Who shouldn't take electrolytes?Updated 22 days ago

  1. Medical conditions. If you have kidney disease, a heart condition, high blood pressure or an electrolyte imbalance, we'd recommend checking with your healthcare provider before taking electrolyte supplements, as these conditions may need specific dietary restrictions or careful monitoring of electrolyte intake.

  2. Medication interactions. Certain medications, such as diuretics, blood pressure medications, or specific antibiotics, can affect electrolyte levels in the body. Taking electrolyte supplements alongside them may affect how well they work or lead to adverse reactions, so it's important to check with a healthcare professional before combining electrolytes with any medication.

  3. High-sodium diets and UPF consumers. If your diet already gives you more than 4 grams of sodium (not salt) through food, it's best to avoid additional electrolyte supplements.
