Why have you added Hyaluronic Acid & Vitamin C?Updated 5 months ago

We have added hyaluronic acid and Vitamin C to our Rise & Glow recipe, to make it more targeted and synergistic as a “beauty from the inside” tonic in comparison to our pure collagen products. Vitamin C itself has not been added, but instead plants that contain high levels of vitamin C such as acerola berry, to make it even more bioavailable.

Vitamin C is required as a cofactor in endogenous collagen synthesis - which is something that we are trying to encourage with this product by nourishing the skin from the inside out. Vitamin C cannot be made by the body so it’s essential that we get a steady supply from our diet or supplementation, particularly if we want to delay our body’s natural decline in collagen production.

Hyaluronic acid is something you may know from topical beauty products, but it’s a natural polysaccharide chain found throughout the body where it serves as part of the supporting structure in the extracellular space. It is found most abundantly in cartilage, skin, and synovial fluid around joints. The addition of hyaluronic acid may help to increase the anti-ageing potential of the product.

Some research suggests that when combined with collagen and used over a 3 month period, it improves the appearance of wrinkles and skin dryness. Oral hyaluronic acid seems to modestly decrease levels of inflammatory cytokines, helping generally to reduce inflammation.
