What does tallow's texture feel like?Updated 22 days ago
As you know, our Organic Tallow is made exclusively from the suet fat of organically raised, grass-fed British cattle.
Tallow's consistency can vary with the seasons, weather, temperature and differences between cattle breeds.
We never use processing aids, other ingredients or other oils in our tallow, which means its taste, texture and consistency can vary a little from batch to batch.
Just like ghee or coconut oil, it can turn more liquid, grainy and loose (sometimes with a thin layer of oil on top) when it's warmer, and smoother and firmer when it's cooler.
So, tallow can range from a smooth, firm finish to a looser, grainier one.
Both are equally delicious, nutritious and just as good to cook with.
One tip. If you'd like a smooth, polished finish, gently heat your tallow on a very low heat in a pan or slow cooker, let it cool slightly, pour it back into the jar, then cool it quickly in the fridge.
